This piece contains a part of me. Rarely do a truly love a finished piece, and I love this one. I spent two days building it in sections on the wheel; then carved smooth curves into the feet and exterior flange of the lid. The top of the lid has my signature pulled handle. This organic form reads as body, or gourd, both are fine with me.

This piece was fired in a noborigama kiln in Phippsburg, Maine in September. The 36-hour firing required continuous tending of the fire, teamwork, lost sleep, and a willingness to be uncomfortable—effort that ultimately brought these pots to life! The experience was nothing short of magical and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity.
