Gold & Red Shino Wood Fired Jar

$325.00

This is my gateway into Shino glazes. Shino glazes are alive, they are heavily influenced by fire, time, and chance. This one feels like beginners luck. This almost double sided pot has vibrantly toasted Gold Shino on one side, and a veil of flowing ash on the other. Best of both worlds. The surface on this pot is food safe and fully vitrified, but it has bit more texture to it. Could be good for whole coffee beans!

This piece was fired in a noborigama kiln in Phippsburg, Maine in September. The 36-hour firing required continuous tending of the fire, teamwork, lost sleep, and a willingness to be uncomfortable—effort that ultimately brought these pots to life! The kiln reached roughly 2,400. The experience was nothing short of magical and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity.
